Fast Shot and Handy Tips Are Now FREE/Fully Open Source

As we move forward with our mission at DNN Sharp, it’s time to reaffirm our commitment to Open Source. Open source is part of our DNA at DNN Sharp. It’s how we started our journey back in 2006 to innovate and bring a next  level in DNN.

From our early days, we worked with open source and developer community to develop our own DNN modules as well as to help improve DNN functionality.

Now, as we move forward to create a new standard for the DNN community, Open Source will be at the heart of what we build. So, today we have another announcement to make. Our Fast Shot and Handy Tips DNN modules are open source and hosted on GitHub.

This means you’ll have a collaborative codebase which gives you the ability to contribute to the source. Great, isn't it?!

Why?

’’Why are these DNN modules free, it seems too awesome to be free... is there a catch?’’ you may ask. Well, why not? Because it is awesome for you. You are the reason why we do this and we owe you so much.

If our code is at the heart of what we do, our community is our pulse. To everyone that uses our DNN modules, helps us to fix when something doesn’t work, and likes us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter when it does…Thank you!

Our hope is that you can benefit from the work that we’ve done. …And we are the spiritual kind of guys and we believe in the "spirit" of sharing. There can't be anything wrong with that, can it?

Retiring Fast Shot and Handy Tips... Or Passing Them On?

There hasn't been much activity from our side on Fast Shot and Handy Tips. In some ways the work for them was superseded by the work on our popular DNN modules such as: Search BoostAction FormMy TokensSharp SchedulerURL AdapterTabs ProRedirect ToolkitNavXpEasy Container.

Although there are still quite a lot of downloads, we do not have the time to maintain and support Fast Shot and Handy Tips anymore. So we were thinking of retiring them - making them officially inactive. But we changed our mind…:-)

So we’re opening up our roadmap for the community to make decisions with us. The future of Fast Shot and Handy Tips is in your hands!

If you’d like to contribute to the project, jump in on Github and lend a hand. This is what Open Source means to the DNN Sharp team and it establishes our commitment going forward. In a very real way, the open source community has changed the world. It continues to do so every day. We get to be a part of that, and we won’t pretend that the idea doesn’t make us a little heady and giddy.

We’re as excited and passionate as we’ve ever been in our mission to build something big…and to help others do the same!  Please let us know if you have feedback on our commitment to open source.

We’re looking forward to hearing what you guys think!
