How to get back access after being locked out of your DNN portal

We realized that we haven’t given you guys much guidance on how to get back access after being locked out by URL Adapter. We’ve accidientally kept all the secrets to ourselves.

So we put together a URL Adapter Survival Guide to share our ancient wisdom and the secret to URL rewriting success.

It’s a common story... Configuring rewriting and redirects is a tricky job. There are some settings that can lock yourself out of your DNN portal.

You created an infinite loop or an advanced rule that matches all URLs and redirects to some inaccessible pages. What to do? This isn’t what you wanted — you wanted to keep your URL structure tidy, maintain a solid internal linking architecture and retain your link equity. Then you find Save Word option and everything changes.

With this setting you can define a page that will disable URL Adapter for 5 minutes. Luckily, URL Adapter has a simple mechanism to let you back in using a secret URL.

Anyway, if you forgot to set your secret URL or simply forgot which is it, don't panic... you can undo this also from database.
