How to Achieve Granular Indexing of DNN Content

The end of summer signifies lots of things for people around the world. For many of us it means the end of hot weather and maybe still some time off.

It also means that with some of this time off, many of you look to boost theirs DNN portal productivity. So, whether you still plan on lounging on the beach with your laptop this end of summer or not, there's something here for you to discover.

In this post I’ll help you to do more on optimizing your DNN search performances. Adding extended search functionalities  to a DNN portal is one of the most common needs today, but relatively few people do it because they don’t know what our Search Boost module is capable of.

Most people with a decent understanding of DNN use Search Boost to index portal content , external web pages, and indexing documents such as PDFs, WORD documents  has become easier over time, but  granular indexing of custom rules, folders or modules  on a DNN portal  is normally a different matter...until now.

I’m saying this because, as you know  we’ve just  released Sharp Scheduler a time-based and application events-based task scheduler module for DNN with some extraordinarily convincing features engraved.

…And with Sharp Scheduler granular indexing of DNN content in Search Boost is now possible! In a few words, we’ve created an API that you ca invoke with a schedule task in Sharp Scheduler to index an individual custom rule, an individual folder or an individual module. Imagine the possibilities…

You have your DNN portal with most pages that don’t change very often and a few pages or folders that need to be indexed as soon as something new is published. …and this is called near-real-time searching.

Using our method means to minimize the time between the moment when the new content is published until it becomes searchable to less than a second. Cool right?

Watch the video tutorial below  where the mysteries of granular indexing of DNN content will be unraveled.

Happy near-real-time searching!
